The success/validity of this event will be highly dependent on your community and who your major demographics are for your complex. One thing we have learned is that you cant please everyone or get everyone to show up for one kind of event. This is why we have been hosting a variety of different events targeted at different age groups (everyone is allowed to join, but we wanted to mix things up and instead of making one general event, we make more focused events.) We do events for children, seniors, teens, etc. But the one event that had the largest turnout was our "Midnight Party" targeted at young adults. We opened up the pool at round 11 PM, had a DJ booth setup (sound system and all) with lots of food and drinks. There were Nachos, pizza, wings, fries and more. For drinks we had a variety...

Astronomy Night - Watch the Sky
Not all events have to happen in the daylight hours. Sometimes the best adventures in your community will be had at night! For this exciting astronomy event, you’ll need to stay abreast of local celestial events like lunar eclipses, super moons, comets, and meteor showers. Choosing the day of your event When planning your Astronomy Night event, consult timetables and resources to pick the best celestial events. Choose interesting and exciting events, like meteor showers and lunar eclipses, that your community residents, will be most interested in. Be sure to choose events visible from your community’s location. If possible, Friday and Saturday night events will work best for late-night community star-viewing. This is because most children don’t need to be up the next day for school. Avoid late night Mon.-Thurs. and Sunday night events. ...

Fun in No Sun - Solar Eclipse Party
There is a rare event coming to your city! To attend, all you’ll need to do is step outside and look up! Later this August, (on August, 21 exactly) a total or partial solar eclipse will pass over cities all across North America. The sun, moon, and earth all have to perfectly align to form an eclipse. According to USA Today, “On average, a total eclipse is visible from any one spot on Earth about once every 375 years. In the U.S., it takes about 1,000 years for every geographic location in the Lower 48 to be able to view a total solar eclipse.” You have to be in the right place at the right time to observe a total solar eclipse. Here’s more on why a total solar eclipse is a very big deal:...

Soap Hockey!
Ok, I have no idea what this would do to the grass around the play area. And it might be a good idea to have them sign waiver forms just in case... But doesn't this look like a blast?! Update: Just saw that this might be featured on ESPN - quite an endorsement!
