Cookie Monster Day Hot
This week’s Resident Event idea is geared more for your little residents. Did you know that November 2nd is Cookie Monster Day? That is because Cookie Monster’s birthday is November 2nd!
You can turn this fun little “holiday” into a great Resident Event by hosting a Cookie Monster-themed event! You don’t have to go too crazy with this one for the little ones to have a blast! This year November 2nd falls on a Monday so you could just open your clubhouse for an hour to an hour and a half after your office closes and invite the kids and their parents to a cookie party! Set out a big table with a tablecloth (preferably blue like Cookie Monster himself) and lay out trays of all different kinds of cookies! Make sure you have cold milk nearby to go with the cookies, too! You could make sure that all of the paper products such as cups and napkins also have Cookie’s signature blue color to make it festive. If you really want to get festive, hang a banner or sign that reads, “Happy Birthday, Cookie Monster!” You might even be able to find a Cookie Monster toy or stuffed animal that you can use for decoration or for taking pictures with kids.
Some other ideas to go along with the cookies:
- Find a cute Cookie Monster/Sesame Street book or two and read them aloud to the kids.
- Print out Cookie Monster coloring sheets and set those on a table for the kids to color
- Pin the Cookie on the Monster game. By using Google Images you can make this game by printing out a cookie monster body on a large piece of paper and cutting out printed cookies that the kids can stick on the piece of paper. Don’t forget the blindfold!
The great thing about resident events which are geared toward kids is that they will find ways to play with each other and have fun while the adults can mingle and with minimal effort you can pull off a great party! You will even find that the big kids will also show up to enjoy cookies and milk!
In the flyer that is sent out to the residents you could include Cookie Monster’s slogan, “C is for Cookie- Me Like Cookie!”
Just use your creativity and imagination, make sure you have a lot of blue and cookies of course, and you can pull together a really fun Resident Event!
