Spin Up an Art Masterpiece

With the colors of summer blooming all around, a kid’s event involving vibrant colors and cheerful faces is inevitable!

This spin art activity for kids is both fascinating to complete and super easy to plan and manage.

For this event, you’ll need a rotating or spin art machine, some paints, and white disposable plates or white card paper.

***TIP*** If you’re on a budget; you could even use an old salad spinner machine to create lovely pieces of spin art.

However, if you are willing to invest some time – you can create your own spinning machine on location at a minimal budget!

What’s more, you can build the spin art machine right in front of the children – to help them understand the science behind spinning machines.

Watch this video to see how to make you own DIY spin art machine:

Ask kids to take turns and create their spin art by placing the paper plate or card board sheet into the spin machine and sprinkling different colors of paints on it.

Children may be asked to draw different shapes on their plates while they’re spinning to enhance their designs.

Displaying projects

Once the spin art pieces are dry, children can be assisted in stylizing their art pieces in an appropriate way for display.

For instance – the kids can be guided about how to turn their spin art pieces into cards or post cards, which may be sent to their loved ones.

We just love the look of the pretty cards made with spin art.

Yet, another interesting way to display the art would be to cut the art into different shapes such as hearts, stars or butterflies. You can turn their art pieces into sun catchers by hanging them in the sunniest windows! Don’t these look sweet?

***TIP*** When assisting children with crafts, make sure the scissors and other equipment are safe to use with toddlers and children.

The spin art can be cut into shapes and pasted into strips of card paper: this makes seasonal summer picnic decorations such as napkin holders!

By and large, this event is sure to be as vibrant as the master pieces the children will create with their spin art. The children will go home feeling proud of their achievements.
