CMC Apartments' Resident Appreciation Week
Thinking of throwing a Resident Appreciation Week at your community? It doesn't have to be costly or too far-fetched from resident events already in your arsenal. At CMC Apartments in Florida, we have hosted an all-portfolio Resident Appreciation Week (or RAW) for the past three years. The following is an snapshot from various properties during CMC RAW 2013. For more photos and ideas, check out #cmcRAW. Do you host a RAW? We'd love to hear about it. Send us a tweet - @CMCapartments In 2013 our leasing and maintenance staff in Gainesville, Winter Park and Lakeland, Florida engaged in cutthroat healthy competition to outshine the other participating CMC communities for our annual CMC Apartments' Resident Appreciation Week - a fun, festive and free lineup of events offered to all residents. Here's a recap of Day 1....

A great, easy and inexpensive way to show appreciation for your residents is to offer a resident candy bar one day during resident appreciation week. Set up a beautifully decorated table with different candy bars, jelly beeans, twizzlers, starbursts for them to fill their goodie bags with. Help them embrace their inner child and show them your thinking of them as a valued resident.

Goodwill on the Go!
This event that has a community service focus while also serving your residents. This even doesn't require residents to bring anything to the office, and doesn't cost anything for you either! The best part? It serves your local Goodwill or Salvation Army with much needed items. The basic idea is that you will provide large plastic garbage bags in the office for residents to get if needed, they fill them with gently used items from their closet and home (no furniture), they RSVP with their apartment number, and they set their bag(s) outside their door by a certain time on a Saturday morning. The community staff drives through the community going to each RSVP door and picking up their donated items. The team then delivers the bags to a local Goodwill or Salvation Army (or other charity organization) for the residents. This is a...

Breakfast On The Go!
Breakfast on the go is a great opportunity to provide a treat for residents on their way to work in the morning. 6-8am is a good time to host the event as you will stand at the entrance of your community. If you have 2 entrances, you can split up or get a volunteer to help each of you. There should be someone at each entrance. If you have several entrances on your property, specify on your fliers where you will be. Depending on the number of entrances you will be serving, each person will need a large basket holding their items. Do not just bring grocery bags full of the original boxes of food; you will want to arrange the items in a basket for a nicer appearance. Arrange granola bars (peanut free), bananas, and apples in the basket. Be creative...

Sweet Saturday
The idea here is a "Create Your Own Strawberry Shortcake" bar that is designed to bless the residents throughout the day. It is not a "large gathering" event, but rather a non-traditional "come and go" event that reaches a lot of residents, and is for resident appreciation. Residents are allowed to come when it is convenient for them, so it will reach those that might not be able to come to your regular events. This is a great event for Mother's Day or Valentine's Day weekend. Sweet Saturday could also be used to pep up any dull dreary fall or winter season. This event would be an ideal Resident Appreciation Week event. This event would be held indoors in the clubhouse during leasing hours. You would need to set up and clean up, as well as hang out throughout the event to refill containers and talk...
