One of my favorite parties of all times was done at a lease up property. We invited all the restaurants and food vendor to participate in a ‘TASTE OF ____________ APARTMENTS’! This was open to current residents, and the entire community at large! We had 18 restaurants participate. We had a new building coming on line soon and needed traffic. We held the event in the parking lot, under the carports. We had several local bands playing through out the day, (They volunteered their time for the exposure) a beer and wine tent and activities for families and people of all ages. We had a bouncy slide, a trackless train that rode through out the community, (this was big enough for adults and awesome) the Fire Department was their giving rides on the bucket truck and they had their little demo house for the kids to play...
In celebration of National Kazoo Day this year, we held a silly picture contest at our community. We gave kazoos to all of our wonderful residents and asked them to take a unique picture of themselves, pets, neighbors, or kids playing the instrument. Pictures were submitted for a grand prize drawing of $100 off their next month’s rent.
I started at Lexington Ridge Apartments in 2006 and every year in December I put together "Breakfast With Santa". The first year I had 50 Residents show up. The number increases every year and last year we had over 120! We have a HOT Breakfast set up for Residents to walk through buffet style. We switch up the menu every year but usually have pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy with assorted other items. We have done cookies with hot chocolate and/or hot apple cider as a side just in case someone doesn't want breakfast. Santa and Mrs. Claus wander around the clubhouse and greet the residents, ask the kids what they want for Christmas. They sit down at their chairs by the fireplace and Christmas Tree for Pictures. I just learned that yes, April 30th is actually Hairstyle Appreciation Day! I know, how goofy is that? But frankly, goofy ideas often make the best events! So in honor of Hairstyle Appreciation Day, I propose a fun social media program for your apartment community. The plan here is to do a real-life event mixed with a Facebook contest! Before you do anything, think about how you are going to promote your event. Making a couple of Facebook posts will help, and maybe a sign in your office, if you get really industrious! Diwali popularly known as the "festival of lights” is a holiday originated in India. The Hunters Chase team brought the magic of Diwali from India to Miamisburg, Ohio. We had luminaries leading our residents to the party in the clubhouse. We have engaged all of residents to attend the festivities, sample Indian cuisine, and to learn the something about the Indian Culture. We asked our resident to join in a cooking contest to compete to win 1 of 3 great prizes. We feel it is important to learn and grow with our diverse community’s population.
