Ice Cream On Wheels
We dressed up our GEM car that is used for tours as an ice cream truck. We had colorful pictures of different types of ice cream and flavors taped to our GEM Car. We made a large ice cream cone with one large scoop of strawberry ice cream and that was on the front of the GEM car. We had nursery ryhmes playing as we drove through our community and invited children and residents to come and enjoy some ice cream. Using the GEM car which is battery operated also saved on the environment and our residents did not have to smell the gas fumes of an old ice cream truck.

The Lemonade Project
Family friendly properties could truly benefit from adopting a practice of hosting what I like to call “Parties with Purpose” especially when it comes to hosting events for children. One of my all time fave summer events is one I like to call The Annual Lemonade Project. This event can take up to about a three to six week commitment but believe it or not it takes very little effort to pull off and gives your residents something special to look forward to year after year. With careful planning, delegation and creativity this will raise the morale within your property for a long time coming. The Lemonade Project is a fun and exciting lesson in entrepreneurship for the children on your property. It is designed to not only get them involved with their neighbors but to teach them lessons about teamwork, creativity, service and more. The objective...

Good Grades Reward Program
Do you reward any of the young people in your community for their grades? Wouldn't it be great to encourage students in your community to work harder in school by giving them some incentives? How about a "Grading Period Party"? Here's what I would do. I'd have a pool party or dance or dinner every grading period and in order to get into the party, you don't need an invitation, just a report card with A's and B's! Check with your local school to find out how long a grading period is in your district. (Here it is every 6 weeks but other places may be 9 week grading periods)...so that would mean 4-6 events every year for those hard working students in your community. This is also a good way to get kids of all ages together. Your younger kids can learn from the high schoolers study...

Princess Tea Party for girls
This time of the year is a perfect time to give the little girls on your property a chance to pull out their pretty Easter dresses once again and come out for a community tea party with their little neighbors. What little girl wouldn't marvel over the opportunity to come out and drink sparkling pink raspberry tea along with cute little finger foods. We love to add as much value as possible to our events so we like to throw in a few simple life lessons like how to greet new people and how to be a loyal friend. Whether you opt to give a valuable lesson or not crank on some fun music, throw in a few games, some art projects, party favors (tiaras are always a hit) and a beautiful backdrop for pictures and you're sure to bring plenty of smiles to your residents faces. Learn more...

Pretend Sleep-Over
This party is a dream come true for any young child who longs to be old enough to have a sleep-over! Guests arrive in their pajamas, take part in a round of fun bedtime activities, and enjoy a bedtime snack before heading home for a good night's rest in their own beds. Musical Sleeping Bags: Have every child bring a sleeping bag or blanket. Set up everyone's rolled-up sleeping bag or blanket in a circle on the floor and play a lullaby. Have the kids walk around the circle carrying their stuffed animals. Remove one of the sleeping bags or blankets and explain that when you stop the music, everyone must quickly snuggle with their pet on one of the pallets. Whoever can't find one is out of the game, but he or she can remove the next pallet when the game resumes. Continue in this manner, allowing...
