Trunk or Treat
This event was suggested by a resident to get us away from the same old door to door trick or treating. Designate a section of the parking lot to hold the event. Have volunteer residents decorate their trunks and provide candy for the actual trunk or treating part. Host games such as bobbing for apples, ring toss, corn hole, etc. We have ZERO budget for this event so we've asked our residents to donate candy, prizes, and decorations. It's already a success!

Our community is 3 story and this can be challenging for those who wish to participate in trick or treating and even more so for the kids the parents who have to climb all those stairs, in all those buildings. So we are doing a 5 to 8 time frame and doing it tailgate style. As the kids come by the club house we will be taking pictures and placing their names in for a toys r us drawing.

Resident Birthdays, What do you do?
Resident Birthday Celebrations: What does your community do for them? Do you send out a card or a Happy Birthday from Facebook? Have any of you thought of having a random birthday party winner every month? I was visiting a social networking site recently and a girl asked for birthday present ideas for her boyfriend. We have been rolling this idea of a birthday club drawing where residents can submit their names to be in the club. Then, once a month, one lucky resident will receive a birthday party from the community for their birthday. If not a randomly chosen party, maybe have some criteria that the...

Back to school Trivia Deluxe
This does require some work beforehand. You'll need to pick up one of those trivia books from the book store, or look up kids trivia on line. A bit different than the typical game show. You set up 2 teams of all aged people and children. You have questions on various topics such as, "who is the secretary of state?", "what is the definition of an island", age appropriate for the contestant. Give each team a 'noise maker' of different sounds and start the trivia. You get the idea.. we did this and the winner recieved $50 off their rent for his/her mom!! THey loved it. We actually did it outside by the pool and drew a crowd!!
